A highly touted arm in the Toronto Blue Jays’ organization earned himself a promotion after a strong start to the 2026 season.
On Tuesday, it was announced that right-hander Nolan Perry was promoted from High-A Vancouver to Double-A New Hampshire and is set to join the Fisher Cats’ roster.
The promotion will be Perry’s second so far this season, as the 22-year-old opened the year in Single-A with Dunedin before joining the Canadians, where the success kept coming. Through seven starts with the Canadians, Perry went 3-3 with a 3.23 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and punched out 46 batters across his 30.2 innings pitched.
For the season, between both Dunedin and Vancouver, Perry is 3-3 with a 2.61 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. With 77 strikeouts over 51.2 innings pitched, Perry has flashed some of the best swing-and-miss ability in the Blue Jays’ farm system. While Perry has the ability to strike batters out, he has also limited hard contact, holding opposing teams to a .190 average for the season.
Perry was selected by the Blue Jays in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, and after struggling in his first taste of professional baseball, he found his stride during the 2024 season. That season, spent with the D-Jays, Perry made 14 starts and went 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 1.61 WHIP. Unfortunately for Perry, his season ended in August, and ultimately he underwent UCL surgery, which resulted in him missing the entire 2025 season.
Now ranked as the Blue Jays’ 15th-best prospect per MLB Pipeline, Perry’s success following the injury has been one of the best stories throughout the Blue Jays’ organization in 2026. While Perry remains a bit away from contributing at the MLB level, he is on an accelerated path as his dominance continues to translate to the higher levels of the minor leagues.
While Trey Yesavage’s path to the Blue Jays last season is one that very few can take, Perry has used this story and the development of Gage Stanifer – whom Perry will join in the Fisher Cats’ rotation – as players to model his path after
“It gives me a lot of confidence, especially seeing Trey [Yesavage] start in Low-A last year, and then make his way up to the World Series,” Perry said. “The same thing with Gage [Stanifer], he was freaking dominant last year. It definitely gives me confidence that they are putting me in the right spot, and I’m on the right path.”
