Blue Jays: Relief prospect Javen Coleman promoted to Triple-A

One of the Toronto Blue Jays’ best relief prospects is one rung closer to the big leagues.
On Tuesday morning, the Buffalo Bisons announced that left-handed reliever Javen Coleman has been promoted to Triple-A.
It seems like it’ll only be a matter of time before Coleman reaches the big leagues. After a strong Spring Training where he threw six and two-thirds scoreless innings, Coleman posted a 2.88 ERA and 3.15 FIP in 25 innings of work with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. However, he missed a month due to injury.
A strong start with the Bisons could position Coleman for a late-season call-up, especially if the Blue Jays continue to trend the way they have been in 2026. His eventual call-up will give them another southpaw option out of the bullpen, something that is desperately needed given that fellow LHP Mason Fluharty leads all pitchers in appearances this season.
It’s been a rapid ascent up the minor league ladder for Coleman. Signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 MLB draft, the lefty made a name for himself in 2025, splitting the season between Single and High-A. 
Over 38 relief outings, Coleman authored a 3 ERA and 2.46 FIP in 54 innings of work, with a 38.1 K% and 10.3 BB%. More encouraging were his numbers with the High-A Vancouver Canadians, as his ERA plummeted to 1.40 and his FIP to 1.15.
It’s not unfair to say that Coleman is the best pure relief prospect currently in the system. MLB Pipeline ranked him as their 22nd-best Blue Jays prospect before the start of the season. His numbers in 2025 played a part in that, but the lefty also features a mid-90s fastball, with a slider and changeup.
Triple-A will be a big test for the 24-year-old, but he’s in a strong position to get a look in the Blue Jays bullpen at some point this season.
