The trade deadline may have come and gone, but the transactions haven’t stopped pouring in for the Blue Jays.
While Wednesday saw the club pick up right-handed pitcher Tommy Nance, adding him to the active roster Thursday, the Jays traded minor-league outfielder Cam Eden to the New York Yankees in exchange for cash, the Bronx Bombers announced Friday.
On Thursday, the Yankees acquired OF Cam Eden from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.

Eden, 26, was drafted by the Jays in the sixth round of the 2019 draft, spending all of a brief stint in the team’s minor league ranks. His lone stint in the Major Leagues came during the 2023 season, getting one hit in six plate appearances, playing one of five games in the starting lineup. He also cashed a run in as a pinch-runner in another game.
He’s spent the last two seasons with Triple-A Buffalo, slashing .232/.331/.328 for a .659 OPS across nearly 800 plate appearances in 222 games. His biggest plus as a player has been using his legs on the bases, stealing 79 bases with the Bisons, and getting caught just 11 times.
Earlier this month, the Jays made another post-deadline trade, sending pitcher Troy Watson to the Tigers for cash.
As highlighted by CBS News, players can be traded after the July 31 deadline, so long as they are eligible under three pieces of criteria: They are signed to a minor-league contract, they haven’t been on a 40-man roster at any point in the season, and they haven’t been on the MLB injured list at any point in the season.
For the Jays, the trio of trades come as the team reshapes their minor league ranks following the draft and trade deadline. The club signed 19 of their 21 draft picks from the 2024 class, adding 11 players on minor league deals as undrafted players, while also acquiring a dozen prospects at the trade deadline.
It’s a massive overhaul to the minor league ranks for the Jays, and it also saw multiple players get their walking papers over the last week, as highlighted by our own Tyson Shushkewich.
