I can’t stand that I’m always rushing through Game Threats in order to get them posted sometime before the damn first inning ends for a lot of reasons. One of my biggest frustrations about it comes about just once a year, every April 15th. Today is Jackie Robinson day, and it’s an occasion that deserves some poignant words, not me blasting through a half-assed preamble and making it all about me. Yet here we are!
Fortunately, everybody knows the basics of Jackie’s story and why celebrating him is so important.
Doubly fortunately, I think I can do better than adding a few verbal flourishes by sharing this one piece of information: the two-part Ken Burns documentary on Robinson that came out this week, which I have yet to watch but is supposed to be excellent, is available to view in full at PBS.org. And it doesn’t even seem to be geo-fenced!
You’re welcome.
