Rangers 5, Blue Jays 1: Where did the offence go?

Apr 7, 2018, 23:00 EDTUpdated: Apr 7, 2018, 23:14 EDT
At 2 degrees celsius in Arlington Texas tonight, the Jays bats were as cold as the weather, managing only 2 hits. The Rangers stormed back after the Jays win on Friday night, taking this one 5-1.
Things worth mentioning…
- Marcus Stroman had issues with his command all night, going 4.2 IP and giving up 5 ER on 6 hits. Texas jumped on him in the 5th inning, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits.
- Following the tragedy in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, both teams honoured the team with a moment of silence and Stroman had a special message etched on his cap tonight.
- As for the Jays offence, it wasn’t the same team as last night, taking them until the 5th inning to get on base with a Kevin Pillar triple, that would eventually be stranded. The Blue Jays managed a total of 2 hits the entire game, which was no match for Texas’ 8.
- The Jays’ bullpen was solid tonight, allowing only 2 hits in 3.1 innings of work, with both hits coming off Danny Barnes, who would leave both runners on base. It was a much better showing than last night, after allowing 4 runs on 4 hits.
Toronto and Texas will square off for the series win tomorrow at 3:05 ET.
