- Earlier today, the Blue Jays optioned Tim Mayza and Gift Ngoepe to Buffalo, activated Kendrys Morales from the DL and called up large adult son Lourdes Gurriel Jr to the big club. Gurriel’s first MLB game did not disappoint. He went two for five – both singles with runners in scoring position – and knocked in three runs. He’s already contributed more at the plate than Gift Ngoepe has. Also, he has great hair.

- Morales returned and didn’t look awful at the plate. He also added two hits and came around to score both times. In fact, every Blue Jays starter not named Smoak (1-5) and Diaz (0-4) reached base at least twice today. This lineup doesn’t boast many sexy names but there’s so much quality.
- Teoscar Hernandez did some more things today: He hammered a Sonny Gray offering 108 MPH to left field for a two run homer in the third. What I liked even more was he also walked twice, and one of them came with the bases loaded. Teoscar still has his faults – his strikeout today brought him to 7 in his first 27 MLB at-bats – but the patience, especially in a situation where the bases are loaded and a free swinger like him probably wanted to just hammer the ball, is a really good sign.

- The Blue Jays bullpen took over in the sixth and carried it home. Each of the four relievers – Oh, Barnes, Tepera, and Osuna – gave up a single hit, but none of them got into any kind of trouble. Oh, and they combined to strike out six and not allow a walk.
- The Blue Jays score another easy eight runs, giving them 114 on the league, which is currently second in the league. Kind of feels like there’s somebody missing…
The Jays are indeed fun as that old Mike Love beach boy song rattles in my head. “And it was fun, fun, fun till her daddy took the T-bird away. Congratulations to the younger Gurriel who received the compliment from big brother that he is a better player than he is. Got to like that and his two hits and three R.B.I.’s So how do you stay in the bigs?? You just go on a complete tear like Teo, as he put the lock and key on his out field spot. Man what a rocket he hit in the bronx zoo as we once again beat the Cranky Yankees and put them back to 500. Osuna the new closer numero uno in the bigs. To quote the famous broadcaster, YANKEES LOSE YANKEES LOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE. To quote the old time broadcaster Paul Harvey , Isn’t life just grand. It is if you are a fan of the Jays this season.
It maybe a good problem to have, but if Lourdes performs like Teoscar at to make a statement to stay, how does this affect Travis (positive or negative way) In one game Lourdes looks awesome at the plate, but its only one game. Travis is usually a slow starter, but if the hot hand is Lourdes, Gibby has some decisions to make (good problem to have)
The kid has a better arm than Travis, just watch the back end of the double play
What a difference a year makes. Younger, more athletic, and way more entertainment. Can the youngsters keep it up when Tulowitzki and Donaldson return? I have to admit I didn’t think it was gonna turn around this fast

Just saw todays lineup – yup Gibby gone with Lourdes again after a day off for Travis – Travis must be thinking or he is hurt again from the hit off his foot the other night
Over/Under on Tulo getting 100 MLB at-bats this year?
