Phillies 2, Blue Jays 1: Pitching!

May 26, 2018, 21:05 EDT
Despite some on and off rain, some new guys, and great pitching, the Jays fell to the Phillies on Saturday.
Things worth mentioning…
- In his return from injury, Jaime Garcia was great today, going 7 innings and only allowing 1 run on 5 hits with no walks.
- While Garcia had a great outing, Aaron Nola was simply better for the Phillies, bringing a no-hitter into the 7th inning before Russ Martin tied the game at 1.
- Speaking of Russ, he started at shortstop for the first time in his career and committed no errors. Gotta love a multi-positional natural catcher!
- Fan favourite Joe Biagini made his relief debut in today’s contest, taking over for Garcia in the 8th. He would allow the winning run and would only manage to retire 2 batters before being pulled by Gibby. Hopefully he’ll be able to settle back into his bullpen role and go back to his old ways, especially with the starting pitching starting to heat up (kind of).
