The MiLB season is beginning to wind down as we stare down the barrel of September on the calendar. The Dunedin Blue Jays and Vancouver Canadians will finish up in the first week of September (minus postseason), while the New Hampshire Fisher Cats get another week before winding down with their playoff schedule. The Buffalo Bisons are last in the group, with their last game coming on September 20th.
Most of the promotions have already happened this season for players in the Blue Jays system, but there is a chance that a handful of guys get a chance for a cup of coffee at a higher level before the end of the year. Injuries and promotions can set off a chain reaction, and there are a few players the Jays could move to a different organization to get a short sample size of what is likely in store for 2027 (if there is a minor league season).
Giaconino Lasaracina – C
Dunedin Blue Jays
Dunedin Blue Jays
Giaconino Lasaracina has been one of the most interesting stories from the 2026 season. Born in Venezuela and signed out of Italy after three seasons with Settimo this past winter, the 22-year-old has been finding his stride in the Jays’ farm system.
While he missed a month on the IL, Lasaracina lit up the FCL Blue Jays through 14 games and earned a quick promotion to Dunedin, where he has continued to hit the ball hard and well. Through 43 games and 154 at-bats combined, Lasaracina has posted a .312/.402/.630 slash line with a 1.032 OPS, collecting 10 doubles and 13 home runs during that span. The right-handed hitting slugger has also added 44 RBIs while walking 22 times compared to 47 K’s. He’s also posted a .318 ISO and a .368 BABIP across both leagues, and has hit above his weight class to the tune of 155 wRC+. Behind the plate, he’s tossed out opposing runners at a 24% clip with Dunedin.
Lasaracina played in the highest level of baseball in Italy (Serie A), and while he’s played sporadically with three catchers vying for time behind the plate, he’s one name who could see a move to Vancouver for some at-bats to cap off the season.
Reese Bassinger – RHP
Dunedin Blue Jays
Dunedin Blue Jays
Welcome to the Blue Jays, Reese Bassinger.
Signed as a UDFA this past summer out of West Virginia, Bassinger has been pitching well out of the Blue Jays’ bullpen.
Through six outings and eight innings total, he’s allowed just four hits and one earned run in the form of a solo jack. He’s limited the walks to just one free pass and has tacked on eight strikeouts to the tune of a 0.63 WHIP and a .138 opposing batting average. On top of the strong average number for the Jays’ bullpen arm, opponents are getting on base at a .167 OBP clip and a .443 OPS, showing that the early transition to pro baseball has gone well for the 6-foot-1 right-hander.
A quick trip on the West Coast with Vancouver seems like a plausible move, and a fair argument could be made that he should have started there to begin with. Bassinger has checked a lot of boxes out of the gate, and a couple of weeks with the Canadians is a litmus test for what life will be like for the right-hander next season when he likely heads back out there for his first full campaign.
Carson Myers – LHP
Vancouver Canadians
Vancouver Canadians
Carson Myers is adjusting well to life at Nat Bailey Stadium.
After spending the remainder of the 2025 season in Dunedin post UDFA signing, Myers returned to Florida for the 2026 season and pitched his way to a promotion in mid-May after posting a 3.48 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP across 20.2 innings of work.
With Vancouver in a hitter-friendly league, Myers has continued to pitch strongly out of the Canadians’ bullpen. The southpaw has found his niche as a multi-inning reliever and has 46.1 innings under his belt despite 22 outings. Myers has pitched to a 3.11 ERA and racked up three saves with the C’s, while striking out batters at a 10.7 K/9 clip and holding opponents to a 7.8 H/9 and a .744 OPS. Considering Myers is likely heading to New Hampshire for the 2027 season, a couple of weeks against some more advanced bats makes sense for both player and team to get his feet wet.
