The Toronto Blue Jays have been rather subdued, especially with the bats, when they have had the opportunity to play spoiler on the road lately.
Coming off of a three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles where they outscored their fellow AL East also-ran 27-19, the Blue Jays visit the playoff-bound New York Yankees for a three-game series that begins Friday at Yankee Stadium. The young Blue Jays are 2-11 in their last 13 games as an away underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com and the total has finished UNDER in 12 of their last 18 games as an away underdog. The total has also finished UNDER in five of their last seven away games against the Yankees.
Toronto opened as a +182 underdog on the MLB odds on the early lines for Friday’s matchup.

The Yankees, who have already clinched the AL East and are competing for home-field advantage throughout the MLB playoffs, have also had the total finish UNDER in seven of their last nine home games at betting sites.
Jacob Waguespack (4-5, 4.70 ERA, 7.0 strikeouts per nine innings) is the first up of the Blue Jays’ three rookie righthanded starters, while lefthander J.A. Happ (12-8, 5.07 ERA, 7.7 SO/9) starts for the Yankees on Friday. There has been an average total of 8.67 runs in Zeuch’s three games since arriving as a September callup. The Yankees are 9-3 in Paxton’s last 12 starts when they were favoured at home, with the total finishing OVER eight times.
Trent Thornton (5-9, 4.93 ERA, 8.6 SO/9) will pitch in the series finale, while Yankees projected starter Luis Severino (0-0, 0.00, 9.0 SO/9 in one MLB start) will continue to stretch out his arm for playoff work. Thornton has allowed just seven hits and two earned runs over 14.2 innings in his last three outings, but the total has gone OVER in his last nine starts on the road. The total has gone OVER in eight of Severino’s last nine starts at home.
The Blue Jays will finish out the season at the Rogers Centre, hosting the Baltimore Orioles for three games starting Monday and the Tampa Bay Rays for three games starting Friday.
