In this article, we’ll look at the third last 2023 draftee.
Just a quick recap of the mid-season list: We’ll look at the player’s stats, my observations, and finally other publications (Prospects Live, MLB Pipeline, Baseball America)’ scouting reports.
Let’s take a gander at Landen Maroudis.

Getting to know Landen Maroudis…

Position: Starting Pitcher
Throws: Right
Born: December 16, 2004
Acquired: 4th round, 2023 draft (Blue Jays)
Current Team: No Team
Previous Ranking: Not ranked
Maroudis was selected with the 121st overall pick in the 2023 draft and was signed away from his commitment with North Carolina State. Unlike college players or prospects who have already gone professional, there isn’t much to speak of in terms of the 18-year-old’s stats, as he has yet to make his debut.
Interestingly, Maroudis was a two-way player, playing shortstop at Calvary Christian High School, the same school where 2021 fifth-rounder Irv Carter was selected.
Prior to slowing down due to the two-way duties, Maroudis’ fastball touched 96 mph with ride and spin. His changeup is his second-best pitch, with a spike slurve as his breaking ball. Maroudis does well at throwing strikes and is very athletic, which could help his velocity tick up in the near future.
The 18-year-old is many years away from making his big-league debut, but his potential is certainly undeniable.

The next prospect on this list has one of the best hit tools in the organization, and he’s broken out in a big way in 2022.
