Days after it was Davis Schneider joining the Blue Jays and having the game(s) of his life, Monday night saw utility man Cavan Biggio do the same.
His two-run jack in the top of the eighth helped secure the Toronto Blue Jays their win, and in the bottom of the inning, got the final two outs on a 4-unassisted double play.
Don’t take it from me, take it from Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt.
“There has to be more perfect games than 4 unassissted double plays where the second baseman gets the 2nd out at first correct?” he pondered on Twitter Tuesday. “I can’t get Biggio’s play out of my head.”
Playing as a utility roleplayer all season, it was a great moment to see Biggio step up into and make two crucial plays to secure the win.
He’ll be back in the lineup Tuesday night for game two against the Cleveland Guardians and the club gives Davis Schneider, who went 0-for-4 at the plate with two strikeouts in the leadoff spot, a night off.
Yusei Kikuchi will take the mound for the Jays opposite of Tanner Bibee for the Guardians.
