WE’RE AT THE MONTREAL PORTION OF SPRING TRAINING.
The final stage before a long, drawn out spring ends is the Montreal trip. We’re almost there, guys.
Blue Jays lose 5-3 to the Cardinals at Olympic Stadium.

Things worth mentioning…

  • Marcus Stroman started this one and it looks like he doesn’t need any more time to get ready for the season. Stroman pitched 4.2 innings and struck out six. The first 12 outs either came by way of ground out or strike out. The next time we’ll see him is on Sunday, when he makes his first start of the season. Keep on keeping on, Stro Show.
  • You think Teoscar Hernandez wants a job? The right fielder added a triple and a single to his already fantastic spring. He’s a hot start in Buffalo away from seriously putting some pressure on one of the Blue Jays outfielders.
  • Russell Martin got his usual hero’s welcome home before and after each at-bat, and he threw in a nice hustle double just for fun. Usually I cringe at seeing guys with jobs going all out like that, but he’s probably bored of playing games that don’t count.
  • And finally, the best part of the night: the little pudgy kid on the left played in this game as the home team’s best prospect. There’s just something so heartwarming about watching Vladimir Guerrero Jr. get the ovation he did in the house that his dad became a star in. The only thing that would have made this game better, aside from a Blue Jays win, would have been Vlad Sr. getting to show his love in person. He did send out this tweet, though, and Twitter is loving it. The box score will tell you that the Baby Impaler went 0-2, but what it doesn’t show you is that both counts were run to 3-2 and even if he was effected by the bright lights in Montreal, he didn’t show it one bit, except for when he got his own standing ovation.
