“The rumours of my demise were greatly exaggerated.”
A persisting question over the past two weeks or so in Vancouver among those who follow the High-A Canadians that’s been asked over and over again… Is the hitting depth still there?
This week’s series with the Everett AquaSox has seemingly put the question to rest, as the C’s have taken the first four games of the six-game set with the Mariners’ High-A affiliate, and look to continue the streak of dominance this weekend.
Wednesday and Thursday were a pair of “big hit” nights for the Canadians, combining for a 13-4 spread over the visiting AquaSox in the two games.  In the yard ball category, things were led by Gabby Martinez and Josh Kasevich, combining for four in two days.  Martinez managed to send it out of the park at Nat Bailey twice on Wednesday night, and once more on Thursday, while Kasevich had a jack in back-to-back nights.
Friday afternoon also saw a two-run shot from Cade Doughty in Vancouver’s 3-2 loss to Everett.
On the other side of the coin, Alex De Jesus has been placed on the Canadian’s Injured list, after struggling in three performances this series.
Vancouver concludes the set with Everett at home at Nat Bailey Stadium with games on Saturday and Sunday.
