Apart from watching baseball games, giveaways are an integral part of the baseball experience. Giveaways raise people’s eyebrows or motivate them to attend a game just to receive that unique item they’ve been eyeing. For example, when the Blue Jays gave away the George Springer bobblehead last Friday, fans were starting to line up for the game starting at noon, over seven hours away from first pitch.
Determining which giveaway is the most interesting can be subjective, but here are three criteria I’ve considered to decide whether a giveaway is fascinating:
- Is any other team doing a similar giveaway/theme?
- If it’s a bobblehead, how unique or creative is the approach?
- Does this giveaway represent the team’s spirit or the local area well?
Based on those questions, here are eight giveaways to watch out for around the league this season.
Captain’s Hat (Miami Marlins) – Sunday, May 3
This hat represents everything that the Marlins are as a team. The team always leaned into its sea-related themes for branding, and the hat really nails its identity. Bonus points for a great design of this hat overall and its usage outside of the stadium; this could go well with people’s Halloween costumes later in the year, possibly.

Tupac Bobblehead (Baltimore Orioles) – Friday, May 8
Already one of the most anticipated giveaways, this is a pretty cool giveaway that honours Tupac’s time in Baltimore. Tupac is a transcendent figure in pop and hip hop culture, which is why this giveaway is a major pull for both baseball and non-baseball fans alike. The original plan was to give this bobblehead away to the first 15,000 fans, but the number has now increased to 20,000 due to popular demand.

The Pasquatch Bobblehead (Kansas City Royals) – Tuesday, May 26
We have to appreciate how the Kansas City Royals took a literal approach to creating this player bobblehead.
Their widely popular first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino, has had the nickname “Pasquatch” because of his larger build (This is a mix of the word “sasquatch” and Pasquantino, for your reference). No other teams have really created any bobbleheads based on nicknames this year, other than Kansas City, which is why this stands out even more.

Clark the Cub Building Block Set (Chicago Cubs) – Sunday, July 5
While this is a kid-friendly giveaway, any giveaway that incorporates more tactile function is unique because there aren’t many giveaways that require people to build things. Kids are very hands-on, so credit to the Cubs for creating something kids can play with. There’s also an appeal for adults to build this and keep it as a cool souvenir.

Top Gun Night (San Francisco Giants) – Friday, August 7
Top Gun was popular when it first came out in the 80’s, and it’s gained more popularity with the second movie in the 20’s. Love that the Giants recognized that and are doing a themed night on this film.
I have no idea whether Matt Chapman was a fan of this movie, but since it’s his bobblehead night with this theme, you’d have to assume that it’s one of his favourite films.

White Sox Pope Hat (Chicago White Sox) – Tuesday, August 11
Hands down, one of the best giveaways in MLB history.
Pope Leo XIV is the first pope to have been born in the United States and is also a well-known White Sox fan. Essentially, this is a once-in-a-lifetime moment to take advantage of, and the White Sox understood the assignment. In fact, they overdelivered by designing the pope hat to match the team’s colours with their logo in the middle.
Again, this was only supposed to be a limited giveaway, but it has turned into an all-fan giveaway based on its explosive popularity. Brace yourself for the sea of popes in the stadium, and I certainly hope they make all White Sox fans wear the hat the entire game.

Serpientes Haboob Globe (Arizona Diamondbacks) – Saturday, August 22
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ radiant purple and turquoise jerseys are one of the more memorable jerseys across the league.
This giveaway has incorporated those colours and created a snow globe with the snake and Chase Field inside, which represents the team’s identity well. It also helps that it’s nice to look at, making it one of the nicer souvenirs people would want to keep around for a long time.

Oktoberfest Alpine Hat (Milwaukee Brewers) – Saturday, September 12
Milwaukee, or the state of Wisconsin, is known for its beer brewing. Given that history, the Brewers are offering an Oktoberfest-themed giveaway, which is a nice nod to the state’s main identity. No other team could replicate this in any way, and this is a very Brewers way of doing things.

Honourable Mentions
2025 World Series Replica Trophy (Los Angeles Dodgers) – Monday, May 11
Blue Jays fans, look away. But if you’re a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, this is a way to own your own version of the championship trophy and remember the glorious times of winning the second-straight World Series title.
Set of ’92 & ’93 World Series Replica Rings Giveaway (Toronto Blue Jays) – Saturday, July 18
World Series rings are captivating and stunning to stare at. It’s one of the main attractions at the 100 level of Rogers Centre, along with the championship trophies in its own case. Although it would have been splendid if the Blue Jays could have done a giveaway for the 2025 World Series ring had they won it all, this is one of the coveted giveaways on the calendar for the team.
