Currently in Buffalo rehabbing from an injury, pitcher Clay Buchholz is set to make his Blue Jays debut this Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays at the Rogers Centre.

Buchholz, 34, pitched last year for the Diamondbacks, posting the third-lowest ERA (2.01) in the majors among pitchers that had at least 90 innings pitched.

In 98.1 innings, he was able to sustain a WHIP of 1.037 finish with a 7-2 record.

The pitcher was signed by the Jays on March 5th, to deepen their pitching and hopefully play well enough to have other teams calling before the deadline.

On a one-year $3-million contract, this team might be able to see their pitching get even better, as long as Buchholz is able to put his first Bisons outing behind him.

Allowing four home runs in five innings might not look the best when you’re trying to show that you can repeat your performance last year. But with the flexibility through the rotation already taking place, Buchholz might be here for at least a few more months.

The two-time all-star might be seeing Blake Snell make his first start against the Jays this season on the opposing mound.
