#BlueJays announce another trade: they get OF Socrates Brito from the Padres in exchange for minor league OF Rodrigo Orozco. Dalton Pompey gets transferred to the 60-day DL (concussion).
Jays make another small trade, acquiring Socrates Brito from the Padres

After the monumental trade sending Kevin Pillar to the Giants, the Jays make a less significant move, acquiring outfielder Socrates Brito from the San Diego Padres.
Going the other way to the Padres is prospect Rodrigo Orozco. The 24-year-old outfielder was 2-for-3 in spring, appearing in just four games. In 2018, he was playing at high-A Dunedin and hit .304 but with a .764 OPS, totaling 53 strikeouts and 40 walks.
Brito was claimed off waivers by the Padres from the Arizona Diamondbacks before the season opener but was removed from the 40-man roster on March 30th.
The 26-year-old played mainly in triple-A last season, slashing .318/.383/.540 with 17 home runs and 69 RBI. Definitely a swing-first type of hitter last year, striking out 104 times while walking only 44.
In just 40 at-bats with Arizona last season, Brito hit one home run and had an OPS of .477, striking out nine times and walking thrice.
He might not be here long, but he is able to play all three outfield positions, might be a solid early season experiment to have.
A connecting move, Dalton Pompey will be transferred to the 60-day injured list with his concussion that he suffered before the season started.
