Rays 5, Blue Jays 3: Another Disappointment at the Trop

May 5, 2018, 21:29 EDT
In game 2 of this series at old fan favourite Tropicana Field, the Jays hoped to even up the series at 1. That didn’t happen.
Things worth mentioning…
- Aaron Sanchez didn’t have a start to remember, only going 3.2 IP allowing 5 hits and 2 Earned Runs. It was a 4-0 game when he left, and despite having to deal with an inconsistent strike zone, he needed to be better in this one. Sanchez couldn’t find his command from the 1st inning, allowing a bases loaded walk to get the Rays on the board in an inning in which he didn’t even allow a hit.
- The young guns were out in full force once again today, with both Hernandez and Gurriel Jr. teeing off for their 4th and 2nd bombs of the year, respectively.
- Despite being productive at the plate, Gurriel Jr. wasn’t outstanding defensively, committing his first two errors of his young career in the game.
- Gibby went off on umpire CB Bucknor late in the game, eventually getting ejected for what seemed like arguing the strike zone. He had reason to be upset, as it was inconsistent all night.
Nonetheless, the Jays will hope to avoid the sweep tommorow at 1:10pm ET.
