Best news possible for Ryan Borucki. He has avoided Tommy John surgery, per source, but he did have a procedure to clean up bone spurs. Done for the season but expected to be ready for spring. #BlueJays
Ryan Borucki won’t require Tommy John surgery

It seems Ryan Borucki and the Toronto Blue Jays have dodged a major bullet. The young lefty was placed on the Injured List just two starts after returning from a season-long elbow injury, prompting a meeting with Dr. James Andrews.
Generally, when you see that a pitcher is meeting with Dr. Andrews, it isn’t a good sign, as Tommy John surgery tends to follow. But, fortunately, that won’t be the case right now as Borucki underwent a procedure to have bone spurs removed from his elbow. This will put an end to his 2019 season, but it’s a much, much better result than having to undergo Tommy John for the second time in his career.
Borucki’s entire 2019 season was derailed due to injury. Back in spring, it was announced Borucki was dealing with elbow issues, but it wasn’t expected he would miss major time. Fast forward to August and he’s pitched just 24 2/3 innings across four levels. Hopefully, this isn’t something that continues to drag into next year.
