Even after the trade deadline, the Toronto Blue Jays’ farm system is in a good place.
On Monday afternoon, MLB Pipeline released their re-ranked Top 100 list, as well as the Blue Jays’ updated Top 30 list. It’s safe to say that the farm system has improved drastically this season.
Starting with the Top 100 list, the Blue Jays have three players on it. Trey Yesavage (who was promoted to Triple-A on Monday) jumped up significantly and ranks as MLB Pipeline’s 26th-best prospect. Added to the list was eighth overall pick JoJo Parker, who ranks as their 41st-best prospect. Lastly, Arjun Nimmala drops to the third-best Blue Jays prospect, but still ranks as the 51st-best prospect in baseball after a rough couple of months.
Outside the Top 100, but ranking high on the Blue Jays’ Top 30 is Ricky Tiedemann, who comes in as their fourth-best prospect. After receiving Tommy John surgery last June, the left-handed pitcher who will turn 23 years old this month hasn’t pitched in 2025. That said, he could pitch toward the end of the season.
Like Tiedemann, Johnny King is a left-handed pitcher selected in the third round. He’s been terrific this season, owning a 1.72 ERA and 2.64 FIP in 47 innings pitched, with an incredible 42.1 K%. Gage Stanifer is another success story in 2025, as he has a 2.96 ERA and 2.10 FIP in 79 innings pitched between Single-A and High-A. His 125 strikeouts are the 10th most in the minor leagues, and he has a 37.9 K%. He has a nasty pitch mix, featuring a plus fastball and slider, as well as a splitter that’s often miscategorized as a changeup.
There’s been a bunch of pitching success stories in the farm system, but Yohendrick Piñango’s emergence as their seventh-best prospect is a welcoming sign. He’s smacked the ball in both Double-A and Triple-A this season and has been given a 55 power tool. Piñango was acquired from the Chicago Cubs for Nate Pearson before the 2024 trade deadline.
Also acquired at last year’s trade deadline were Jake Bloss and RJ Schreck, who rank eighth and 10th in the Blue Jays system, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 is outfielder Victor Arias, who has the potential to be a five-tool player and is in Double-A as a 21-year-old.
Jake Cook, their third-round pick in 2025, ranks as their 11th-best prospect. Due to Orelvis Martínez’s struggles after returning from last season’s suspension, he’s dropped to the 12th-best prospect in the system. Josh Kasevich has been injured throughout the season and ranks 13th.
They finally have a catcher in their top 15, as Edward Duran ranks as the Blue Jays’ 14th-best prospect, mainly because of his defence behind the dish. Their 12th-rounder in 2025, Blaine Bullard, ranks 15th. Juan Sanchez is quickly becoming a prospect to keep an eye on, and he ranks as their 19th-best prospect.
It’s not all positive in the Blue Jays’ system, though, as 2022 first-round pick Brandon Barriera has dropped to their 25th-best prospect. The left-handed pitcher has dealt with injuries throughout his career and has pitched under 30 innings since making his professional debut in 2023.
Due to injury and struggles since coming back, Landen Maroudis ranks as the Blue Jays’ 29th-best prospect, while Angel Bastardo ranks as the team’s 30th-best prospect.
All in all, their farm system is in a good spot thanks to the 2024 trade deadline and great development over the past few seasons.
