Some not-so-great news has come out of the Toronto Blue Jays’ Tuesday night’s game against the Southsiders.
George Springer left the game in the eighth inning with what the club is calling discomfort in his right elbow.
There was nothing visual that had happened for Springer who was getting a night off from the outfield DH’ing. As the lineup rotated towards the top of the order, Sportsnet’s Arash Madani reported in-game that both Springer and head athletic trainer Jose Ministral wasn’t on the bench.
Madani noted that there was a clip of Springer stretching out his elbow talking to Bo Bichette ahead of Monday’s series-opener against the White Sox.
All of a sudden, we saw Cavan Biggio pinch-hitting for Springer in the top of the eighth. Springer’s outing had been far from ideal. He went 0-for-3 striking out in each at-bat and got caught swinging hard.
Springer’s first year with the Jays had been plagued by injuries playing in just 78 games with an injury to his quadriceps. Obviously, anytime we hear of potential for anyone on the team there’s some concern, but that increases a little more given Springer’s history.
