The Toronto Blue Jays may have had a rough day on Sunday afternoon, but at least it was a good day for their affiliates.
Only the four “A” level affiliates were in action on Sunday, with three of the four teams picking up a win. Additionally, three home runs were hit by Blue Jays’ prospects, including one off the bat of JoJo Parker.
Stepping up to the plate with two on, one out, and the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays down 4-1, the Jays’ first round pick in 2025 tied the game with one swing of the bat. The shortstop’s three-run homer came off the bat at 102.1 mph and was his ninth of the season.
Earlier in the game, Parker just missed hitting a home run, instead settling for his 17th double of the season, the fourth time this season he’s hit a home run and double in the same game. Overall, he drove in three, with two hits and two walks.
Parker was good, but not great over his first two months as a professional. From April 3rd until June 2nd, the left-handed hitting shortstop slashed .226/.366/.360 with three home runs, as well as a 15.8 BB% and 26.7 K% for a 103 wRC+.
But since June 3rd, Parker has been one of the best hitters in the system. Over his last 19 games, the 19-year-old is slashing .313/.440/.701, with six of his nine home runs coming in just an 84 plate appearance stretch. On top of that, Parker’s K% has dropped to 19% during this stretch, which happens to be his BB% as well. That’s good for an 184 wRC+.
With how he’s performed this season, especially in the last month, it’s only a matter of time before Parker heads north and joins the High-A Vancouver Canadians. This last month has shown why he was picked eighth overall.

Other notes…

Despite the game-tying home run, the D-Jays ultimately lost that game 5-4 in extra innings. Dariel Ramon had a two-hit game, as did Raimundo De Los Santos. Juan Sanchez hit a single and struck out twice, the same stat line as Jake Cook. It wasn’t Carson Messina’s best start, throwing 32 pitches in just two-thirds of an inning with an earned run allowed and three walks.
Next week, the D-Jays head to Jupiter, not to get more stupider, but to play Hammerheads for a six-game series.
The good news is that the other three affiliates in action on Sunday won. Moving up a level, the High-A Vancouver Canadians defeated the Hillsboro Hops 7-2. Canadian Mathieu Vallee went 3-5 with three RBIs and two doubles.
Eric Snow, who has hit the ground running in High-A, went 3-5 as well. Manuel Beltre hit his 11th double of the season, while Maddox Latta and Jake Casey had two-hit performances. The C’s return home to host the Eugene Emeralds on Tuesday.
In Double-A, Cutter Coffey hit his third home run of the season in the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ 5-3 victory over the Somerset Patriots. He had a two-hit performance with a walk, one of his better performances this season as he’s had a tough year. Jackson Hornung hit his 10th double of the season, and Dub Gleed went 2-4.
On the mound, Jackson Wentworth allowed three earned runs over five innings of work, striking out four. Yondrei Rojas picked up the win thanks to a scoreless inning, while Javen Coleman picked up his third save of the season in a clean inning of work.
The Fisher Cats head to Reading to square up with the Fightin Phils.
Lastly, the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons defeated the Iowa Cubs 8-5. Unsurprisingly, Jay Harry had a strong game, driving in three and hitting his eighth double of the season in a 2-6 performance. The other notable performance belonged to Josh Kasevich, as he hit his second home run of the season.
The Bisons stay on the road, traveling to St. Paul to take on the Saints for a six-game series.
There were two minor league games in the system on Monday. The Florida Complex League Blue Jays fell 5-2 to the FCL Yankees, but Arjun Nimmala returned and went 0-2 with a sacrifice fly, a walk, and a strikeout. Max Viera went 2-4, and Renyel Campos hit his second double of the season.
The Dominican Summer League Blue Jays Blue defeated the DSL Marlins by a score of 4-2. Juan Caricote, Michael Mesa, and Cristopher Polanco all hit a double.
