Blue Jays Minor League Report: Charles McAdoo has a 19-game on-base streak

Charles McAdoo has started to get going.
This is the June 20 – June 23 edition of the Minor League Report, where we look at how the last three days have gone for each of the Toronto Blue Jays’ affiliates. We’ll look at the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, High-A Vancouver Canadians, Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, FCL Jays, and their two DSL teams in this article. Bisons drop four of six

Friday saw the Bisons fall 7-1 to the Worcester Red Sox, bringing their record to 29-42. Leo Jimenez hit his first double of the season in Triple-A, while Yohendrick Pinango hit his third double at the level. Adam Macko made the start, giving up two earned runs and striking out five in four innings of work. Jacob Barnes struck out the side in order.
They got back in the win column on Saturday, defeating the Red Sox 10-6. Michael Stefanic hit his first two home runs of the season in this game, and Josh Rivera hit his seventh Triple-A double. CJ Van Eyk made the start, giving up six earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched. Ryan Burr made a rehab appearance, striking out two in an inning of work.
With a chance to split the series, the Bisons fell 12-10 on Sunday. Stefanic hit his third home run of the series, while Pinango and Joey Loperfido also hit home runs. Rainer Nunez and Loperfido hit doubles. Lazaro Estrada had a tough outing, giving up four earned runs in two and two-thirds innings pitched. Tommy Nance struck out two in his inning of work.
This week, the Bisons return home to face the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs for a six-game series.

Fisher Cats swept by Patriots

It was a rough week for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, as they lost all six games they played this past week. Friday saw them fall 7-5, with Charles McAdoo, Cade Doughty, Gabriel Martinez, and Jace Bohrofen each hitting a double. Grayson Thurman pitched an inning and a third, striking out two. Nate Garkow pitched two innings, striking out two to maintain his perfect ERA.
The Fisher Cats fell 11-2 on Saturday. Robert Brooks hit his third double in Double-A, while Peyton Williams hit his seventh home run of the season. McAdoo had a single and a walk to bring his on-base streak to 18 games. Devereaux Harrison made the start, giving up two earned runs and five walks in four and one-third innings pitched.
On Sunday, the Fisher Cats were unable to avoid the sweep as they fell 12-5. McAdoo’s on-base streak improved to 19 games as he hit his fifth home run of the season. He and Eddinson Paulino each had two-hit games. Rafael Sanchez made the start, giving up five earned runs and striking out four in 3.2 innings pitched.
This week, the Fisher Cats head to Hartford to take on the Yard Goats for a six-game series.

Canadians are 1-1 in the second half

After failing to finish first in the first half, the Vancouver Canadians embarked on the second half of their season. It started poorly, as they fell 4-1 to the Eugene Emeralds on Friday. Nick Goodwin hit his tenth home run of the season, Sean Keys and Jackson Hornung each hit a double, and Arjun Nimmala had a two-hit game. Fernando Perez had a solid start, going five innings with an earned run allowed and four strikeouts.
After a rainout on Saturday, the two teams played on Sunday, with the Canadians winning 4-0. Je’Von Ward and Keys each hit a home run, while Cutter Coffey, Goodwin, and Victor Arias each hit a double. The latter had a three-hit game. Khal Stephen had a strong start, striking out three in his six innings of scoreless baseball.
This week, the Canadians return home to host the Tri-City Dust Devils for a six-game series.

D-Jays drop four of six

The Dunedin Blue Jays dropped four of six to the Clearwater Threshers this past week, including a 1-0 loss on Friday. They weren’t a hit, as Tucker Toman, Lizandro Rodriguez, and Bryce Arnold hit singles, the latter hitting two. Landen Maroudis made the start, going four innings with three strikeouts and two walks. Eliander Alcalde also struck out three in his two innings of work.
They returned to the win column on Saturday, defeating the Threshers 7-0. Jean Joseph, Kendry Chirinos, and Sam Shaw hit home runs, as Edward Duran, Manuel Beltre, and Arnold hit doubles, the latter hitting two. Kendry Rojas made the start, striking out four in four scoreless innings.
Like the Bisons, the D-Jays had a chance to split the series on Sunday, but fell 4-3 in extra innings. Their lone extra-base hit came from Arnold, as he hit his ninth home run of the season. Colby Holcombe made the start, giving up two earned runs and striking out three in four innings of work. Silvano Hechavarria pitched 4.1 innings, striking out four and giving up one earned run in his first loss of the season.
This week, the D-Jays host the Bradenton Marauders for a six-game series.

FCL Jays are on a three-game win streak

The Florida Complex League Blue Jays have been hot recently. On Friday, they defeated the FCL Yankees 4-3, with David Beckles hitting his first triple of the season. Dariel Ramon had a three-single performance. Connor Overton made the start in a rehab appearance, striking out three in two innings of work. Troy Guthrie pitched four innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out two.
They followed that up with an 11-1 victory over the FCL Yankees on Saturday. Yorman Licourt hit his fourth home run of the season, and Raimundo De Los Santos hit a double in his three-run game. Samuel Colmenares started the game, pitching four innings with an earned run allowed. Eduar Gonzalez pitched five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out six.
On Monday, the FCL Blue Jays defeated the FCL Phillies 8-2. Ramon and Maykel Minoso had two-hit games, as the Blue Jays failed to hit an extra-base hit. Yimi Garcia made the start in a rehab appearance, striking out three in his inning of work. Johnny King pitched the bulk of the game, giving up two runs, both unearned, in his 4.2 innings pitched, striking out seven in the process.

DSL Blue Jays Blue won three of four

The Dominican Summer League Blue Jays played four games since the last article, winning three of four. In the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, they defeated the DSL Arizona Black 8-2, with Cristopher Polanco and Darwin Nunez each hitting a double, the latter finishing with three hits. Angel Rivero made the start, going three hitless innings with two strikeouts.
They fell 5-1 in the second game of the doubleheader, with Rafael Flores and Elian Reyes each hitting two singles. Jose Andrades gave up an earned run in 2.2 innings pitched, while Manuel Suero struck out five in 3.1 innings, but gave up two earned runs in the process.
The DSL Blue Jays Blue got back in the win column on Saturday, defeating the DSL Pirates Black 5-3. Juarlin Soto and Nunez each hit a double, two of the three hits the team had, with Soto hitting a single as well. Michael De La Cruz made the start, giving up two earned runs in four innings of work, striking out four.
On Monday, the DSL Blue Jays Blue smacked the DSL Cubs Blue 14-4. J.T. Bain hit his first career home run, doing so in grand fashion. Angel Guzman, Soto, Daniel Dominguez, and Carlos Garcia each had two hits. Cristhian Duarte made the start, going five innings and giving up an earned run to pick up the victory.

DSL Blue Jays Red lost two of three

The DSL Blue Jays Red didn’t have as good of a week, dropping two of three. On Friday, they fell 5-3 to the DSL Giants Orange. Kennew Blanco and Juan Sanchez each hit home runs, the latter was the first of his career. Miguel Pantoja made the start, striking out seven and giving up an earned run in his four innings of work.
On Saturday, they walked off the DSL Tigers 1, winning that one 5-4 in 10 innings. Sanchez hit a double, as did Nestor Urbina, his sixth of the season. Edgar Gallegos gave up two earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched, but struck out six. Luis Victorino struck out two in his inning of work.
To complete the week, the DSL Blue Jays Red fell 9-7 to the DSL Giants Black on Monday. Pascual Archila hit his first two home runs of the season, while Diego Arce hit his first career home run. Luis Felipe hit his second double of the season. Blanco and Urbina each had two-hit games.
