Out of the four Toronto Blue Jays “A” affiliates, no team has found success like the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Over a month into the minor league season, the Fisher Cats sit first in the Eastern League’s Northeast division thanks to a 19-11 record. In 30 games, the Fisher Cats have scored 202 runs, allowing just 148 runs, the fewest in the Eastern League, and the third-fewest among the 30 Double-A teams.
A handful of those runs came in a 12-4 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs on Sunday, their lone loss in the five-game series. That said, there were still some positives, namely that Jace Bohrofen became the second prospect in the Jays system to reach double-digit home runs.
Drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 draft, the left-handed batting outfield is now slashing .266/.394/.633 with 10 home runs in 132 plate appearances, good enough for a 159 wRC+. There are concerns, namely his 31.8 K%, but the power is the real deal.
Also in that 12-4 loss, Victor Arias went deep for his first home run of the season. The outfielder began the season on the injured list, but has now played two games with the Fisher Cats. Last season, Arias slashed .282/.353/.403 with seven home runs in 468 plate appearances.
This week, the Fisher Cats will host the Reading Fightin Phils, looking to extend their division lead.

Other notes from the farm system…

There is one team off to a better start than the Fisher Cats, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays. The reigning champions began their season on May 2nd and have still yet to lose a game. With a 7-1 victory over the FCL Phillies, the FCL Jays are now 7-0.
In Monday’s game, the FCL Jays hit just one extra-base hit, with Kennew Blanco hitting his second double of the season. Surprisingly, only two Blue Jays prospects participating in this game had an OPS over .800. The team has yet to hit a home run after hitting 28 last season.
Pitching was the name of the game for the FCL Jays on Monday, as Giacomo Taschin allowed one unearned run in three innings of work, striking out five. Josbel Garcia struck out three in two scoreless innings, and Deiker Pineda struck out five in two clean innings, picking up the win.
In the three other games on Sunday, the Buffalo Bisons defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 11-2, the Dunedin Blue Jays beat the Bradenton Marauders 5-3, and the Vancouver Canadians fell 13-8 to the Eugene Emeralds.
Starting with the latter, Carter Cunningham hit his seventh home run of the season and remains hot. Alexis Hernandez also hit a home run, his second of the season.  Starting the game was Daniel Guerra, who allowed seven runs, six earned, in three and one-thirds. By far his worst start of the season.
Only one home run was hit in the Bisons’ 11-2 victory, as Willie MacIver hit his first home run in the Blue Jays organization. The catcher also hit a double, as did Ismael Munguia and RJ Schreck. In fact, Schreck was 3-5 with four RBIs. On the pitching side of things, Josh Fleming allowed one earned run over five innings. Brendon Little threw a scoreless inning, and Pat Gallagher struck out two in an inning and two thirds to drop his season ERA to 1.13.
Lastly, the D-Jays won 5-3, with Yorman Licourt hitting his sixth home run of the season. Blaine Bullard hit his third double, Eric Snow his fifth, and JoJo Parker his eighth. This season, Licourt is slashing .205/.364/.474, but has a monstrous 43.4 K%.
The D-Jays head to Tampa to play the Tarpons, the Bisons host the Worcester Red Sox, and the Canadians return to Vancouver to host the Everett AquaSox.
