Just a few years ago, one of the biggest needs in the Toronto Blue Jays system was left-handed batting outfielders. Flash forward to the present day, and it’s one of their greatest strengths, with Jace Bohrofen being a notable example in the upper minors.
This is Blue Jays Nation’s bi-annual prospect ranking, where we’ll look at the top 35 prospects in the system in the month of February. As always, I’ll look at the player’s stats, what other publications have to say, as well as my own observations of the players. If you missed the 30th-ranked prospect, you can read about Angel Bastardo here.

Getting to know Jace Bohrofen…

Position: Outfield
Bats: Left
Born: October 19th, 2001
Acquired: Sixth-round, 2023 draft
Previous ranking: 26th
Bohrofen began his collegiate career with Oklahoma in 2021, but transferred to Arkansas for the 2022 season. In 2023, he slashed .318/.436/.612 with 16 home runs in 267 plate appearances, leading the Blue Jays to pick the Oklahoma City native with their sixth round pick.
Shortly after being drafted, Bohrofen split his time between the Florida Complex League and Single-A to end the 2023 season, slashing .299/.443/.636 with seven home runs in 97 plate appearances. Those seven home runs ranked tied for the fifth most among players drafted in the 2023 draft in 2023.
Bohrofen spent the entirety of the 2024 season with the High-A Vancouver Canadians, where he slashed .254/.364/.433 with 14 home runs in 485 plate appearances, with a 12.4 BB% and 23.7 K% for a 130 wRC+.
Unfortunately, Bohrofen missed a chunk of the 2025 season, which was his first foray into the upper minors. Over 83 games with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the 24-year-old slashed .204/.311/.377 with 10 home runs in 335 plate appearances, hitting an additional home run during a rehab stint in Single-A. While Bohrofen still walked at a high clip (12.5%), the outfielder’s K% jumped to 34%, the highest of his career.
Bohrofen fell off MLB Pipeline’s top Blue Jays prospect list during the 2025 season, and didn’t rank on Fangraphs’ 2026 update. He did, however, rank on Fangraphs’ 2025 update list, and they note his subpar contact but above average power. There’s potential to play all three outfield spots, although he’s mainly played right field throughout his professional career.
It’s likely that Bohrofen will repeat the Double-A level to begin the 2026 season. If he can play like he did in 2024, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him reach Triple-A at some point next season.
