The High-A Vancouver Canadians and the Everett AquaSox went to battle on Tuesday Night at Nat Bailey Stadium in what some would call a defensive battle, and others would call a snooze fest.  The two clubs would find themselves knotted at a nil-nil tie through the regulation nine innings of play, with Everett even No-Hitting Vancouver in the process.

For a C’s team that recently lost its best base hitter to the dreaded call-up, Vancouver struggled on their recent road swing in Spokane, still coming out with a series victory, but not in the dominant fashion that Canadians fans had become accustomed to this summer.  But hey, they were just on the road, things will turn around when they come home, right?  Right?

It took until the twelfth, THE TWELFTH INNING, before the first baserunner finally made it across home plate at The Nat, as Everett’s pinch runner Randy Bednar made it home after a sacrifice bunt and a single to centre field, after starting the inning at 2nd.  After Vancouver finished the top of the inning, the Canadians had work to do, and they wanted to do it quickly.

Devonte Brown would start the comeback effort with a single to left field, giving pinch runner Estiven Machado the opportunity to get to third.  Then Devonte stole second, because of course he did, turning on the jets and beating the throw with Michael Turconi at the plate.  With runners on second and third, Turconi had every intention of being the hero on Tuesday, as he cracked a grounder to right field for a 2RBI single, bringing Machado and Devonte Brown home for a 2-1 walk-off win in the 12th inning.

Vancouver continues their week-long series with Everett tonight at the legendary Nat Bailey Stadium on Wednesday night.
