With the 364th overall pick, the Blue Jays have selected Chay Yeager

Jul 11, 2023, 14:53 EDT
The Jays didn’t really go off the board on day two, but that’s a different story on day three.
With the second pick of the day, the Jays selected 20-year-old Chay Yeager from Pasco Hernando Community College in Florida. Announced as a pitcher, he was a two-way player for his school.
He made 15 appearances in the 2023 season, going 69.1 innings pitched with 102 strikeouts for a 13.24 K/9. He also allowed five homers, 29 earned runs, and 37 walks. He finished the season with a 3.76 ERA and two complete games.
Yeager also hit for his NJCAA Division II school, slashing .258/.343/.440 with seven homers in 182 plate appearances, meaning he hit more homers than he gave up in 2023. The 20-year-old also had an 18.1 K% and an 8.2 BB% as a batter.
Although pitching in Division II of Community College doesn’t sound all that impressive, Yeager is set to transfer to Georgia State University, a school in the NCAA Division I.
The Jays must really like what they saw from him as a pitcher.

As always, you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram @Brennan_L_D. There isn’t a lot of information on Yeager, but I’m intrigued.
