These aren’t the first set of roster cuts the Blue Jays have made. Last Monday, Robert Brooks, Andres Sosa, Adam Kloffenstein, Charles McAdoo, Rainer Nuñez, Eddinson Paulino, and RJ Schreck were reassigned to their minor league camp.
Clarke received just one plate appearance this Spring Training but is one of the best offensive catchers in the Blue Jays system. Tirotta had a great 2024 season, but slashed just .105/.227/.105 with no home runs in 22 plate appearances this spring. As for Kasevich, he slashed .222/.300/.22 with two singles in 10 plate appearances. Although he was reassigned to the minor league camp, Kasevich could be a player who sees some action with the Blue Jays in 2025.
Estrada had a tough Sunday, giving up three earned runs in an inning and two-thirds. So far this Spring Training, the 25-year-old righty has an 8.44 ERA in 5.1 innings pitched, or three games. Bash didn’t do any better, posting a 9.64 ERA in 4.2 innings pitched, or five games. Pardinho only pitched two innings in three games, posting a 22.5 ERA. However, he threw a clean third of an inning on Sunday and even helped Team Brazil qualify for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
There are still several players on the Spring Training roster who are non-roster players. For pitchers, Braydon Fisher, Mason Fluharty, Ryan Jennings, Ryan Yarbrough, Jacob Barnes, and a few others remain. For position players, Jacob Sharp, Alan Roden, Myles Straw, Ali Sánchez, and a few others remain.
One player who has a legitimate shot at making the team out of Spring Training is Roden. Over the past month, the 25-year-old outfielder is slashing .438/.625/.938 with two home runs and two doubles in 24 plate appearances.
