The bad luck continues for 25-year-old Nate Pearson.
On his final day of rehab assignment, Nate Pearson was removed from the Buffalo Bisons game after two pitches. While we can’t speculate on the injury, it didn’t appear to be noticeable after the pitch.
He missed the start of the season with mononucleosis, meaning that he only threw his first pitch on May 14th. This isn’t the first time Nate has suffered unusual injuries, as he broke his arm off a comebacker after only 1.2 innings pitched in 2018.
This season with the Bisons, Pearson appeared in five games, posting a 3.52 ERA and 5.42 FIP in 7.2 innings pitched. He has a K/9 of 11.74 (and a K% of 34.5%) while only owning a BB/9 of 3.52 (or BB% of 3.52).
Obviously, we all hope this is nothing major for Pearson, but if he were to remain on the 60-day IL, the Jays would have an extra spot on the 40-man roster.  Candidates to be added to the 40-man roster include relief pitcher Adrian Hernandez, versatile position player Samad Taylor and defensive outfielder Chavez Young.
In all honesty, I hope it doesn’t come to that, as Nate Pearson has had some shit luck in his career to be frank. The last thing he needs is another long term injury. So let’s all hope that it’s nothing serious.

Update:

According to SI’s Mitch Bannon, Nate Pearson was removed due to right shoulder soreness. The good news here is that it’s apparently not an elbow injury, which means Tommy John won’t be needed.
