LP Langevin has one of the most underrated fastballs in the country. A former JUCO bandit, the @RaginCajunsBSB RHP threw five perfect innings in relief, dominating with his heater. 92-95 with explosive life, racking up 14 (!) whiffs. Flashed a CT, SL, and CH. Very fun metrics.

Heading into the 2024 MLB Draft, L.P. Langevin was an interesting name on the prospect front. After spending time at Wabash Valley College, Langevin transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, joining the Ragin’ Cajuns for a solo lap before his draft year.
In the Sun Belt Conference, Langevin produced a 3.73 ERA across 62 2/3 innings. He was a bulk inning relief pitcher, making 23 appearances (three starts) and allowed 27 earned runs and 33 walks while striking out 106 batters. His triple digit punchouts led the SBC while he ranked as the No. 5 overall reliever by D1 Baseball.
For his efforts, he earned the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year Award and finish on Third-Team All-America rankings for NCBWA, ABCA/Rawlings, and Baseball America while also being a DIck Howser Award Semifinalist.
The Royals selected him in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft.
2025 Season
Langevin didn’t pitch in 2024 and was slated for a big season in 2025 but injury forced him to the sidelines to begin the campaign.
He didn’t take the mound until July 1st in the ACL, and made four appearences there before making the jump to High-A Quad City, skipping the Single-A line.
The jump may have been a bit quick, as Langevin pitched to a 7.20 ERA and a 1.933 WHIP through 14 outings and 15 innings, while he struggled with his command to the tune of a 10.2 BB/9. The strikeouts were still high at 15 K/9 with 25 punchouts, but his ERA and WHIP suffered because of the free passes that turned into runs.
Because of the missed time, Langevin was added to the Arizona Fall League and made six appearances for the Surprise Saguaros. The right-hander allowed five earned runs through 6 2/3 innings of work while allowing 12 walks compared to 11 strikeouts.
LP Langevin made his Midwest League (and full season affiliate) debut today, striking out the side in a perfect 7th inning. It was the first pro appearance above the CPX for last year’s 4th round pick. Worked his way back from an oblique injury suffered earlier this year.
Looking Ahead to 2026
It’s no secret that Langevin has the ability to strike out opposing bats, but the command issues in his first pro season really didn’t help his numbers on the mound. When he can reel in the walks and attack the strike zone, good things can happen for the Quebec product.
The likelihood is that Langevin is likely heading back to Quad City to continue on with the 2026 season. The next step for Langevin would be Double-A ball, but he will need to reel in the walks before that promotion comes around.
