Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is back.
Before Saturday’s contest against the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays activated Guerrero from the 7-day concussion injured list.
Originally injured after taking George Lombard Jr.’s knee to his head on August 14 during the Blue Jays’ 3-1 victory, Guerrero spent the minimum amount of time on the IL
After working out Tuesday and Wednesday at Tropicana Field, Guerrero joined Single-A Dunedin on Thursday during their 7-4 victory over the Clearwater Threshers. The 27-year-old went 1-for-1 with an RBI double and two walks in his lone rehab appearance.
Through 115 games this season, Guerrero is batting .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Guerrero has reached base at a .337 clip this year and possesses the ability to power the Blue Jays’ lineup to new heights over their final 32 games.
In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays optioned Davis Schneider to Triple-A Buffalo. Schneider was recalled on Friday after the Blue Jays placed infielder Josh Smith on the 10-day IL with left hamstring inflammation, and entered in the bottom of the seventh to play left field but failed to record an at-bat.
Through 61 games this season, Schneider is batting .142 with three home runs and 12 RBIs. The 27-year-old has turned in an on-base percentage of .295 to this point in the 2026 campaign.
