The Toronto Blue Jays have added another collegiate pitcher to their system.
With their 14th-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, the Blue Jays selected University of Texas-San Antonio right-hander Connor Kelley.
Taken at 432nd overall, Kelley is coming off a strong season with the Roadrunners. In 20 games (five starts), Kelley went 5-2 with a 2.98 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Over his 66 innings, Kelley struck out 73 batters and only walked 22.
Kelley is listed at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, so the righty brings an imposing frame to the mound. The 22-year-old finished the year strong with the Roadrunners during the American Conference Championship. Kelley recorded a save in an upset win over the University of Memphis. Kelley turned in a pitching line of 4.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K in a dominant showing.
The following day, Kelley returned to the mound and picked up his second save of the tournament, this time going 1.2 innings and striking out all four batters he faced. Kelley brings a consistent fastball and a sharp breaking ball to the Blue Jays’ organization.
In two seasons at UTSA, Kelley went 8-3 with a 2.89 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. The right-hander struck out 122 batters over 102.2 innings pitched and is a nice selection with the 432nd pick of the draft.
