The Toronto Blue Jays have a second crack at winning their four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
After winning the first two games of the series, the Blue Jays entered the bottom of the ninth leading 5-1 on Saturday. Jeff Hoffman struggled, and the Orioles walked off the Blue Jays to snap the four-game winning streak. The Blue Jays were that close to leaving Maryland with a .500 record at worst.
Well, the good news is they’ll get another crack at not just leaving town with a .500 record, but winning another series. Over their 11 series, the Blue Jays have won seven, split two, and lost two, both to the Rays. They’ve at least earned the split in this series, but this one the Blue Jays need to win.
Like Friday’s game, Sunday’s series finale will be a bullpen day for the Blue Jays, not great news for the team playing a game on their 17th consecutive day. Spencer Miles will pitch the bulk of the innings, as he’s done for his last four outings. Since May 10th, Miles has gone 15.1 innings, allowing just on earned runs, four walks, and 16 strikeouts for a 0.59 ERA and 1.76. To say he’s been terrific would be an understatement.
Starting for the Orioles is Kyle Bradish, who has been one of their best starters over the past four seasons (when healthy). Over 11 starts in 2026, the most starts he’s made since 2023, Bradish has a 3.86 ERA and 4.13 FIP in 58.1 innings pitched. He’s had some command issues this season, posting a 11.8 BB%, but has a respectable 24 K%.
George Springer gets the day off, which mixes up the lineup quite a bit. Leading off is left-handed outfielder Nathan Lukes, one of four left-handed batters in the lineup to face Bradish, a righty. With Springer’s absence, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. moves up a spot and will serve as the designated hitter.
That means that right-handed batting Charles McAdoo is back in the lineup, hitting seventh and playing first base for the first time in his big league career.  Daulton Varsho is another lefty in the lineup, and he’s batting third. He’s followed by two right-handed hitters, Kazuma Okamoto and Ernie Clement, while Jesús Sánchez bats sixth. Andrés Giménez bats eighth, and switch-hitter Brandon Valenzuela gets catching duties, batting ninth.
Let’s set up Sunday’s series finale!
