Aldo Gaxiola is quickly becoming a prospect to keep an eye on in the Toronto Blue Jays system.
On Tuesday, the Dunedin Blue Jays’ corner infielder hit his ninth home run of the season, tied for the fourth-most in the organization, as only Sean Keys, Jace Bohrofen, and Carter Cunningham have more.
For context, Gaxiola slashed .264/.360/.372 with seven home runs in 432 plate appearances over his first three seasons in the organization. While the power surge is real, there are concerns about his game.
Over his 50 games, Gaxiola has a 27.6%, up from his 17.8 K% last season. He’s also struggled to draw a walk, posting a 4.4 BB%, well down from his 11.1 BB% in 2025. Gaxiola has hit just eight doubles, so his wRC+ sits at 96, a bit surprising given his home run count.
There are certainly improvements needed as the season wears on, but Gaxiola hitting for more power is an interesting development.
Other notes…
The D-Jays won that game 6-4. Gaxiola had the lone home run, but Blaine Bullard, Jake Casey, and Dariel Ramon all hit doubles. Ramon and Will Cresswell each had multi-hit games as well. On the mound, Troy Guthrie struck out four in six one-run innings, bringing his ERA to 3.83 on the season.
Also winning on Tuesday were both the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. Starting with the former, Aaron Parker hit his seventh home run of the season, while Hedbert Perez hit another home run, his fifth of the season in just 30 plate appearances. Carter Cunningham hit two doubles, while Nick Goodwin and Jorge Burgos each hit one.

Their 4-1 win was capped off thanks to a strong Double-A debut by Danny Thompson Jr., who struck out three over four hitless innings. Replacing Thompson Jr. was Alex Amalfi, who struck out five in four one-run innings. Javen Coleman picked up the save.
In the Bisons’ victory, Keys hit his second home run in as many games, giving him an organization-leading 16 home runs this season. Jonatan Clase went deep for the fourth time this season, and C.J. Stubbs hit his first. Clase, Keys, and Josh Kasevich all had three-hit games, while Rafael Lantigua hit a double.
On the mound, Yimi García struck out the side in order on his rehab outing. Richard Gallardo pitched the bulk of the innings, giving up three earned runs over four innings pitched. Gallardo also struck out five.
The lone “A” affiliate to lose were the High-A Vancouver Canadians, because despite scoring 11 runs, they gave up 15. Nolan Perry had his first tough outing of the season, giving up five earned runs in two and two-thirds innings.
As for their offence, Sam Shaw hit his second home run since joining the Canadians, while Matt Scannell went deep to drive in three in the top of the eighth. Each starter had a hit, with Maddox Latta, Edward Duran, Kendry Chirinos, and Manuel Beltre each finishing with two hit games. Latta, Beltre, and J.R. Freethy each hit a double.
None of the three rookie league teams won on Tuesday. The Florida Complex League Blue Jays lost 15-2, but Italian catcher Giaconino Lasaracina hit his fourth home run and third double. Ricky Tiedemann also pitched for the first time since July 10th, 2024.
The Dominican Summer League Blue Jays Blue lost 6-5, while the DSL Blue Jays Red lost 2-1. Michael Mesa hit his fifth double of the season in Blue’s game and Samuel Orellana hit his third double. In Red’s loss, Samuel Orellana hit his first professional double.
