Surprise!

Well, not really.

Baseball America updated their top 100 prospects board yesterday, and to nobody’s surprise, our large adult son Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has vaulted from third to first. He moved past Ronald Acuna Jr. and Shohei Ohtani now that both of them are full time MLBers.

The Vlad show isn’t new to anybody in baseball. It’s become an almost nightly thing for the prodigy to do something in Double-A and then set Twitter abuzz for the rest of the night talking about it. Through 46 games, he’s slashing .417/.465/.701 with 11 dingers and both his walk and strike out rates hovering around 10% all season. He’s been hitting so well that he has national media discussing him potentially forcing the Blue Jays hand and earning a call up before May 2019 because of uh, reasons. Oh, he’s also the youngest player in the Eastern League.

And of course, you can’t talk about Batman without mentioning Robin: Bo Bichette stayed in his number seven spot. While the power numbers are down from last season, he’s still been getting on base and stealing a good amount. Also, according to BA, he now looks like a true shortstop. Everything about the big league team might cause fans pain, but it will all be worth it when those guys make up the left side of the infield full time in *checks calendar* TWO YEARS?
