Blue Jays 7, Twins 5: Close Call in Minny

The Blue Jays travelled to Minnesota to kick off a 3-game set against the Twins hoping to rebound after dropping back-to-back series.
Things worth mentioning….
- Aaron Sanchez got the start tonight, pitching 6 innings and surrendering 4 runs on 6 hits. What’s important is that he matched his total innings pitched last year with tonight’s start, and we’re only 1 month into the season. Good news!
- After jumping out to a 5-1 lead, the Twinkies clawed their way back to make it 6-5 in the 7th inning. However, the Jays would hang on for the win to make it two in a row.
- Justin Smoak absolutely crushed a home run in the 4th. No one really knows if it’s landed yet.
- Loup, Barnes, Clippard and Osuna all came out of the bullpen tonight, with the only run coming off Loup. There’s a lot to be said about this bullpen, getting a lot of work with starting pitching failing to go deep into games as of late. Hopefully they wont be needed much over the next two days with a doubleheader against Cleveland coming up on Thursday.
Gibbons on the struggles of some starters in the rotation: "We've been inconsistent, but I think that's going to change."
Marco Estrada will take the hill tommorow, looking to go past 6 innings for the first time since March 31st against the Yankees.
