Damiano Palmegiani has some of the best power in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
This is Blue Jays Nation’s annual Pre-Season Prospect Countdown, this time looking at the top 40 prospects in the organization. We’ll look at the player’s stats, my observations, and other publications’ scouting reports if available.
Let’s take a look at our 35th-best prospect, Damiano Palmegiani!

Getting to know Damiano Palmegiani…

Position: Third base/First base/Left Field
Bats: Right
Born: January 24, 2000
Acquired: 14th-round, 2021 draft
Previous ranking: 23
Palmegiani was drafted by the Blue Jays twice but signed with them after they drafted him for the second time in the 14th round of the 2021 draft.
In 48 plate appearances in 2021, he hit two home runs with their Florida Complex League team. The Canadian torched Single-A in 2022, slashing .256/.351/.508 with 11 home runs in 228 plate appearances in 2022, earning the mid-season call-up to High-A. With the Vancouver Canadians, the Surrey, British Columbia native slashed .224/.335/.443 with 13 home runs in 272 plate appearances, giving him 24 home runs in 2022.
The first baseman/third baseman/left fielder started the 2023 season in Dobule-A, where he slashed .249/.351/.463 with 19 home runs in 461 plate appearances, earning a late-season call-up to Triple-A. In his short stint, Palmegiani slashed .284/.427/.554 with four home runs in 96 plate appearances.
Of course, the Canadian started the 2024 season in Triple-A but struggled for the first time in his professional career. Overall, he slashed .210/.311/.381 with 19 home runs in 501 plate appearances for an 82 wRC+.
The name of the game for Palmegiani is power. Last season, his 21 home runs (he hit two in Single-A during a rehab assignment) led the organization, the first time someone not named Orelvis Martínez led the system since 2019. Since 2022, his 68 home runs are second only to Martínez who has hit 75 in that stretch.
Palmegiani’s hit tool is a bit further behind as he can struggle with strikeouts, but has a good eye at the plate. Defensively, the organization played him in left field for 19 games last season where he committed two errors, but has experience at third base and first base.
