A former Toronto Blue Jay is on the move.
On Friday afternoon, MLB.com’s Jake Rill reported that outfielder Will Robertson was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Orioles have claimed OF Will Robertson off waivers from the Pirates, according to a source. Robertson, 27, made his MLB debut for Blue Jays in 2025, was their 4th-round Draft pick in ‘19. Also played for White Sox this year. Had been claimed off waivers by Pirates on Oct. 13.

It’s Robertson’s fourth team in 2025. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 draft, Robertson started to become a notable prospect after a strong second half in Double-A. He was a slightly below-average hitter in 2024 with a propensity to strike out with the Buffalo Bisons, but had a strong start to his 2025 season.
In 62 games with the Blue Jays’ Triple-A team in 2025, the 27-year-old slashed .292/.403/.578 with 14 home runs in 233 plate appearances, while his K% dropped from 31.3% in 2024 to just 24.5% in 2025.
His strong year earned him a call-up to the Blue Jays. He received just 12 plate appearances in mid-June, registering his first hit (a single) while slashing .100/.250/.100. Robertson was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays in July and was traded to the Chicago White Sox.
Robertson didn’t fare much better with the American League Central team, slashing just .133/.159/.150 with no home runs in 63 plate appearances. However, he made an impressive catch in early September, which was the highlight of his season.
After the 2025 season ended, Robertson was waived and claimed by the Pirates. Due to the transaction happening in October, Robertson never suited up for the Pirates. Robertson remains on the Orioles’ 40-man roster, but there’s stiff competition for the outfield. As it stands, the Orioles have eight outfielders on their 40-man roster.
That includes the recently acquired Taylor Ward, Canadian Tyler O’Neill, Dylan Beavers, Colton Cowser, Heston Kjerstad, and a few others. The 27-year-old will need to take another step forward at some point in 2026 to earn a chance with the American League East team.
