Blue Jays select Eddie Rosado Jr. 612th overall in 2026 MLB Draft

The penultimate pick of the 2026 MLB Draft is Eddie Rosado Jr., an outfielder that the Toronto Blue Jays selected 612th overall.

Rosado Jr. is a left-handed batting outfielder who attended Holy Ghost Prep School in Pennsylvania, and is set to attend Saint Joseph’s if the Blue Jays are unable to sign him.

It was the third consecutive pick where there’s some uncertainty of whether or not the Blue Jays can sign him. First, they selected Jake McCoy in the 18th round, MLB Pipeline’s 152nd-best draft eligible prospect heading into the draft. With a commitment to the University of Tennessee, that may be a hedge pick.

In the 19th round, they selected prep shortstop Cole Travers, before following up that pick with Rosado Jr. It’s hit or miss whether or not the Blue Jays will be able to sign the two prep players. They’ve done so in the past with players like Nolan Perry, Gage Stanifer, Jordan Rich, and Gavin Smith, all four of which were unranked heading into the draft.

That said, they’ve also made a handful of hedge picks like Chase Brunson in 2023, D’Marion Terrell in 2024, and Ty Peeples in the 2025 draft.

I’d expect at least one of these three players to be signed, perhaps even two. Prep players, especially drafted this late, take time to develop. Look no further than both Stanifer and Perry, with the former breaking out in 2025 and the latter breaking out this season, all the way to becoming a top 100 prospect in baseball.

Selecting Rosado Jr. is an intriguing one, but time will tell whether or not he’ll sign with the Blue Jays.
