JoJo Parker is starting to look like the prospect that the Toronto Blue Jays selected eighth overall in the 2025 draft.
In by no means was the start of his professional career bad, slashing .242/.389/.381 with four home runs in 240 plate appearances ahead into the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays’ most recent series. However, he took it into another gear last week.
In the top of the fifth on Sunday, Parker hit his seventh home run of the season, a 410 foot blast off the bat at 106.6 mph. That wrapped up a week where he slashed .300/.364/.950 with three home runs, two doubles, and a triple in 22 plate appearances.
For the season, the left-handed batting shortstop is slashing .248/.378/.435 with seven home runs in 262 plate appearances, good for a 121 wRC+. He’s also hit 15 doubles, tied for the most in the organization alongside Jay Harry. While his 25.2 K% is a bit high, Parker has shown the ability to walk as well, drawing 41 free passes, good for a 15.6 BB%.
A promotion to the High-A Vancouver Canadians at some point this season isn’t out of the question for the 19-year-old.

Other notes…

The D-Jays ended up winning Sunday’s game 10-1. Dariel Ramon hit two doubles, giving him 10 on the season, while Jake Casey hit his first triple of the season. The most notable performance from Sunday’s game belonged to Troy Guthrie, who fired six innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts.
Sunday was a good day for the Canadians as well, defeating Spokane by a score of 9-5. Eric Snow hit his third home run since the promotion, while Manuel Beltre hit his fifth long ball of the season and Peyton Williams his second in High-A. Edward Duran hit two triples and J.R. Freethy hit his 11th double of the season.
The other “A” affiliate to win on Sunday were the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Eddie Micheletti Jr. became the fourth player in the organization to reach double-digit home runs, hitting a long-ball in the top of the ninth to give the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead. They didn’t hold it though, ultimately winning 5-4 after 11 innings.
Jorge Burgos hit the team’s other extra-base hit, his 14th of the season. Victor Arias had a two hit performance, while Hedbert Perez walked twice and hit a single. On the mound, Danny Thompson Jr. threw five scoreless innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and striking out four. Since joining the Fisher Cats, he’s allowed just one hit over nine scoreless innings.
In Triple-A, the Buffalo Bisons fell 5-0 to the Charlotte Knights. Not many notables in this game, though Josh Rivera hit his 14th double of the season, while Charles McAdoo hit a single and walked twice. On the mound, Conor Larkin struck out two over an inning and a third.
Moving to Monday’s slate of games, both Dominican Summer League teams won, while the Florida Complex League team lost. Starting with the FCL Jays, they fell 4-1 to the FCL Phillies, with Max Viera hitting his first double in affiliate baseball. Edrwin Veras had a solid start, striking out three over five innings of one-run ball.
The DSL Blue Jays Blue defeated the DSL Rangers Red by a score of 5-4. Juan Caricote had a terrific game, going 4-5 with four singles and two RBIs. Isay Veras had a two-hit game, hitting one of the two doubles on the day, with catcher Samuel Orellana hitting the other double. On the mound, Roberto Castellanos struck out four, going six runs of one run ball, the only run against being unearned.
As for the DSL Blue Jays Red, they defeated the DSL Arizona Red by a score of 8-4. Aneudi Severino was the big standout from this game, hitting two doubles and driving in two. Fabian Gonzalez and Frelian Flores each hit a double. Franiel Severino picked up his first professional save, allowing an earned run but striking out three to drop his season ERA to 1.93.
This week, the Bisons head to Des Moines to face the Iowa Cubs, and the Canadians hit the road to face the Hillsboro Hops. The Fisher Cats host the Somerset Patriots and the D-Jays host the Tampa Tarpons.
