Blue Jays Nation’s 2025 Pre-Season Prospect Countdown – No. 33: Mason Fluharty

Today’s prospect is one of the best relief prospects in the organization.
This is Blue Jays Nation’s annual Pre-Season Prospect Countdown, this time looking at the top 40 prospects in the organization. We’ll look at the player’s stats, my observations, and other publications’ scouting reports if available.
Let’s take a look at the 33rd-best prospect in the system, Mason Fluharty!
Getting to know Mason Fluharty…
Position: Relief pitcher
Throws: Left
Born: August 13, 2001
Acquired: 5th-round, 2022 draft
Previous ranking: Not ranked
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Mason Fluharty in the fifth round of the 2022 draft, with the left-handed pitcher making his debut in High-A shortly after. In his first taste of professional action, he posted a 3.52 ERA and a 3.99 FIP in 15.1 innings pitched with a 32.3 K% and a 10.8 BB%.
Fluharty started the 2023 season with the High-A Vancouver Canadians, pitching 15.1 innings with them and authoring a 0.59 ERA and a 2.79 FIP, with a 36.2 K% and an 8.6 BB% before receiving the call-up to Double-A. With the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Fluharty had a 4.25 ERA and a 4.06 FIP in 42.1 innings pitched with a 28 K% and a 9.3 BB% to end his 2023 season.
His rise in the minor league system continued, as he started the 2024 season with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons where he had a 3.63 ERA and a 4.15 FIP in 67 innings pitched, with a 27.4 K% and a 9 BB%.
In MLB Pipeline’s 2024 Mid-Season update, the left-handed pitcher ranked as their 26th-best Blue Jays prospect. Featuring a cutter/slider pitch-mix, Fluharty’s cutter (used in replacement of his fastball) sits in just the upper 80s, but he pairs that with a nasty slider. Fluharty is great against left-handed batters, but his numbers against right-handed batters weren’t great they had a slash line of .242/.313/.414. It’s something he’ll need to improve upon in the future but with that being said, he’ll earn a major league shot at some point in his career.
