From the outfield in Arkansas to the pro ranks with the 2025 World Series winners, this next player is looking to impress in his first full season in the Dodgers farm system.

Charles Davalan was a popular name in 2025. From boosting his draft stock throughout the year to a missed catch in the College World Series, Davalan was always in the headlines.
A product of Academie Baseball Canada, Davalan took his talents to Florida at TNXL Academy during his later high school years in an attempt to boost his draft stock. That play in Florida resulted in a commitment to Florida Gulf Coast University, where he posted a .288/.413/.514 slash line with 16 doubles and 10 home runs across 221 at-bats. He also added 13 stolen bases and 28 walks compared to 35 strikeouts, and finished with a .927 OPS.
Davalan finished the 2024 summer in the Cape Cod League, suiting up in 21 games for the Cotuit Kettleers. He slashed .242/.351/.371 slash line with six extra base hits and 11 RBIs across 62 at-bats, walking nine times.
2025 season
The outfielder transferred to Arkansas for his sophomore campaign and put forward an incredible season. He amassed a .346/.433/.561 slash line with 12 doubles, 14 home runs, and 60 RBIs while walking more than he struck out (35 vs. 27). Davalan also added 10 stolen bases with a .994 OPS. Davalan earned First Team All-SEC, ABCA/Rawlings All-American Second Team, and NCBWA All-American (Second Team) honours, amongst numerous others, during his lone season.
The Razorbacks advanced to the College World Series, and during the semifinal contest, LSU smacked a line drive to Davalan in left field that he unfortunately missed, which tied the game at 5-5 in the ninth inning and eventually saw LSU advance to the finals. It was a tough scene, one that saw an emotional Davalan on the bench while his teammates and coaches consoled him, showing the human side of the game.
While it was a tough break for Davalan, his fortune turned for the better shortly after during the 2025 MLB Draft. With the 41st pick in the Competitive Balance Rounds, the Dodgers selected Davalan and signed him to a $2 million bonus. He became the first Canadian-born player selected and the third affiliated Canadian selected in the 2025 draft.
Davalan would suit up in a handful of games following the draft, finding himself in Single-A Rancho Cucamonga for 34 at-bats. He collected 17 hits in that span, including three doubles, one triple, and his first pro home run, along with 10 RBIs.
A late-season leg injury put him on the shelf just before the end of the year, although Davalan appears to be healthy heading into 2026
Looking ahead to 2026
The big question for Davalan is whether the Dodgers want him back in Single-A for some more at-bats or if they think his bat needs a new challenge in High-A to start the new campaign. High-A seems like the likelier bet, especially since his plus bat could see the Canadian in Double-A before the end of the season.
Another question that will need to be answered is where the Dodgers want Davalan to play in the outfield moving forward. He spent most of his time in left field during his time with Arkansas, but once pro, the Dodgers had him slotting in centre field for the small sample size. Davalan possesses an average arm in the outfield but plus speed, so he checks some boxes off when it comes to the qualities you want in a centre fielder, although it wouldn’t be surprising if the Dodgers move him to a corner spot sometime in 2026 or beyond.
Davalan ranked 15th on the Dodgers’ top prospect board heading into the winter months.
